Over the last few years Hastings has undergone a radical face-lift, with the local government dedicated to improving the area. Regeneration of the town centre and the opening of the university in 2003 has brought many businesses and services to the area.

Station Plaza will create, with the new station, a bustling transport hub. Campus Core is the regeneration of town centre buildings into the academic quarter. Pelham Square will a civic space designed to put Hastings on the map, architect designed and including hotel and office space, a great mix of shops, cafes and restaurants.
